Our customers have always had good feedback about our work.
All I can say is 'at last' a professional building company who show up to work on time, work really really hard and nothing is too much trouble. Our cottage has been transformed to the highest of standards and in a traditional way (many features added by the advice of Kevin & Heath) to include a bespoke porch with a stained hardwood frame and traditional grey slate roofing etc. (I could not bare the thought of an all-white plastic secondary glazing company type thing), handcrafted fitted wardrobes, vaulted ceiling and some super mood lighting. The beautiful new stairway can only be really appreciated by comparing the past with the present, they completely removed the old partition wall and opened up the ground floor to a size that is hard to recognise and the clever recessed lighting in the stairs themselves is truly inspirational. The fixtures and materials H&R selected only complimented their design concept and as a result, we have the entire stairway lit up every night as it is such a delight to look at. The lowered ceiling to accommodate a much needed huge storage cupboard in the spare bedroom (a masterpiece of design as storage space in the cottage is a premium) further compliments the whole stairway design. The finishing touches to the bathroom and kitchen were stunning with a great deal of attention being paid to style, finishes and quality (they even bought small and soft furnishings on my behalf). I went away on holiday and left the boys with my keys and expecting to find my bedroom ceiling raised by 6 inches, when I returned from holiday, I was totally speechless that what they had in fact done was the most amazing vaulted ceiling with oak beams inserted and all beautifully decorated. Not only did H&R expose the chimney breast and restore it but the team also installed an antique hearth and fittings. The fitted handmade bi-folding doored wardrobes were simply amazing and the antique stain on the doors added real character and warmth to the room. They also bought mirrors and lamp shades for me to really set the room off. The spare bedroom was also stunning and was completed with bi-folding wardrobes and a storage cupboard that was also a complete surprise. I honestly could not recommend the team at H&R highly enough. A fantastic job was done and they are lovely people to have entrusted my home to.
In early December 2016 I was offered a derelict house near High Brooms railway station. The sale on this property had fallen through on two previous occasions and to date had not been surveyed! I was told that I could have the property if I could exchange and complete in 23 days and matched the last buyers offer. I duly did this, completing in 21 days. The house had been purchased by the previous vendor in 1938 from the developer of the site after the High Brooms brick factory had closed. At 102 years old, she had lived in the property ever since and it came in its original format with only new PVC windows and no gas or central heating. This was a very much a 'project' restoration. I was exceptionally lucky in finding H & R; they have been exceptional. Not only has Sian run the buying side from their office but she has been efficient with design suggestions and kept me well informed of progress all along the way. This is about my 25th building project and I can honestly say it has been the fastest, smoothest and most professional project I have ever seen. The quality of workmanship is excellent, the site is left tidy every night, the staff courteous and helpful. Renovating a derelict house from top to bottom and adding an extension on the back as well, all in 8 weeks, is a tall order, especially when I wanted the garden dropped by 60cm so that it was level. I have been delighted with the work and cannot recommend H & R enough. I have given them two more projects on the back of it, including my house, which is a much bigger contract, and it includes removing and replacing the roof and adding a new floor. If they say they cannot start a project for a little while, you can blame me, so book early to avoid disappointment!
After receiving a glowing recommendation from a friend as well as being impressed with their portfolio, I contacted H&R Property regarding an enquiry to complete a full refurbishment on my top floor, one bed apartment in Brighton. The whole team were more than helpful with their site visits and all the preparations as I was jetting off to Africa for the whole duration! I felt more than comfortable to leave my property in their capable hands and even though I had known the company for a short period, we had developed such a strong relationship that I trusted them 100%. Not only was my trust and confidence was with the company for having open access to my property but I left them with a blank canvas to design and build me a perfect home! Throughout the entire process, H&R’s communication was brilliant (considering I was half way around the world!) and they even took the time to create mood boards for each room to give me design ideas and a taste of what I was to come home to. All members of their team worked exceptionally hard to ensure that my home was ready upon my return and it was more than ready… it was amazing! The previous dim and ill fitted kitchen had been transformed into a modern kitchen/ diner with integrated appliances and a breakfast bar to maximise space and comfort. As well as this, the combination of flush white units and smooth black granite gave my kitchen the perfect feel and I have not been shy to show it off! One of my few requests was that I really envisaged having a piece of furniture under my window in the living room in order for me to sit and read with the views of Brighton sea-front, as well as have space for storage. However due to the height of the window, most window seats would not be compatible. H&R ensured me that this would be possible and upon my return I was amazed to see a bespoke hand-made piece of furniture that fitted perfectly. In addition, H&R even went to the effort to get all the cushions and covers hand-made and in my favour colour! Similarly, for master bedroom, I needed lockable storage as well as being able to retain access out of the fire escape window. Thus I was speechless when I entered the room to find again, a bespoke, hand-made wardrobe unit with towered touch-open doors as well as lockable storage in-between. As for the bathroom… whoa! The entire colour scheme and texture of the tiles accompanied by the simple yet sophisticated appliances turned this room into a relaxing, stylish bathroom. On top of this, the team had designed and had made a fitted glass shelving system with integrated mood lighting! All in all, I cannot give a higher recommendation of the team at H&R. Their dedication, communication and skilled craftsmanship has resulted in me having the perfect home and I really appreciated the grace, thoughtfulness and the enthusiasm of all the team. What’s more is that since showing my new home off, all of my friends too have been amazed at the quality and the outstanding value of their work.
The house looked tired with wallpaper and a colour style to suit most elderly ladies over 80 but that didn’t put me off purchasing the property (it did everybody else!) H & R Property were called in to do a tidy up job and put right all those niggly items that appeared in the survey as well as those that made the property so unattractive in the first place. A new kitchen and bathroom were installed, all the walls were stripped and repainted, ceilings re-plastered, new fuse box added and small issues like illegal bannisters and panes of glass removed and rectified. Sian (H&R’s Office Manager) was also a huge help providing me with excellent design ideas which not only greatly enhanced my property but saved me significant cost on the entire refurbishment. The fact that this was all done in a few, small weeks was a miracle and done at a very competitive price. I simply cannot thank the entire H&R team enough for doing such a fabulous job.
